There was not one person who didn’t leave Old Trafford deflated after the game on Wednesday night. It was a game we really needed to win to build some momentum. We made a very average Twente side look good and really struggled going forward, creating chances. On a positive note Mazraoui looked impressive. He looks like he loves going forward and is enjoying his football. Rashford was full of confidence and taking on players constantly but just lacked that final product. Ugarte looks like he will never lose a tackle and is really good on the ball, exactly what we need at the moment.
Sunday, on the other hand, is a must win. Spurs have been poor this season. They played their UEFA Europa League game Thursday night giving them 24 hours less recovery time for this game. Spurs captain Son Heung-min limped off with twenty minutes to go. We are at home and desperately need three points. I can’t help but feel, if we don’t beat Spurs on Sunday and Porto on Thursday Erik ten Hag’s job will be at risk again.
