With the Champions League draw now done and the fixtures and dates released, a lot of United fans online have been asking how they can get hold of Man Utd European away tickets. United have upcoming trips to Munich, Copenhagen and Istanbul. Although it is not an easy task to get hold of these tickets it is certainly not impossible.
Man Utd European Tickets: The Process
So let’s begin with the basics. Manchester United use a credit system for European away tickets. Credits work on a 3 year rolling basis, so if you went to an away game in 2023, your credit would last until 2026. When an European away game is announced Man Utd release the tickets in bundles based on credits. For example on Monday fans with 5+ credits can buy tickets, Tuesday fans with 3+ credits and Wednesday fans with 1+ credit. This means a lot of the majority of the time it can be difficult to get hold of tickets especially for bigger games and easier to reach locations like Spain and Germany. Each member can buy one ticket.
In 2022, the Manchester United fans’ forum agreed to allocate 5% of European away tickets to fans without credits. This allowed new fans to join the credits ladder. It’s unclear if this will continue this season.
All tickets for Man Utd European away games need to be collected in the country the game will take place with a valid passport as ID. Successful purchasers get an email from United in the weeks leading up to the game with the location and times to collect the tickets which is typically located at a hotel or a ticket office near the stadium.
How to get a Man Utd Away Credit
We get asked this a lot. Some fan believe that you have to buy credits and exchange them for tickets. This is untrue. A credit is earned from going to a Manchester United European away game. For example if you were lucky enough to get a ticket for last years Barcelona Europa League game and collected it in Barcelona with a valid passport you would of received 1 credit. Credits last 3 seasons.
Who is Eligible
Anyone who has a Manchester United season ticket or membership is eligible to apply for European away tickets. United have 3 membership types: premium, full and lite. All of them entitle you to apply for European away tickets. The only difference between the memberships is the merchandise pack you get when you buy and premium members get priority access to full season tickets apparently but this is another full blog post at some stage.
Upcoming Man Utd European Fixtures
Man Utd will play at least 3 games away from home in Europe.
On 20th September 2023 the Red Devils will play Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, Munich. Tickets are priced at £26.50 each and United have been given an allocation of 3779 tickets. On Thursday 7th September fans with 3+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Friday 8th September fans with 2+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Saturday 9th September fans with 1+ credit will be able to buy a ticket and on Monday 11th September fans with no credits will be able to buy a ticket. A minimum of 5% of the overall allocation will be held for those with zero credits as agreed with the Man Utd fans forum. All sales commence at 10am each morning. Tickets are now sold out for Bayern Munich and the game has been completed.
On 8th November 2023 United will play FC Copenhagen in the Parken Stadium, Copenhagen. Tickets are priced at £45.50 each and United have been given a disappointing 2,250 ticket. On Wednesday 4th October fans with 4+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Thursday 5th October fans with 3+ credit will be able to buy a ticket. On Friday 6th October fans with 2+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Saturday 7th October fans with 1+ credit will be able to buy a ticket and on Monday 9th October fans with no credits will be able to buy a ticket. A minimum of 5% (112 tickets) of the overall allocation will be held for those with zero credits as agreed with the Man Utd fans forum. All sales commence at 10am each morning. Tickets are now sold out for Copenhagen. But keep checking the website as people regularly return tickets which can pop up at short notice.
On 29th November 2023 Man Utd play Galatasaray in Rams Park, Istanbul. Tickets are priced at £22.50 each and United are expected to be given at least 2,400 tickets but this is still to be confirmed. On Wednesday 11th October fans with 4+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Thursday 12th October fans with 3+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Friday 13th October fans with 2+ credits will be able to buy a ticket. On Saturday 14th October fans with 1+ credit will be able to buy a ticket and on Monday 16th October fans with no credits will be able to buy a ticket. A minimum of 5% (120 tickets) of the overall allocation will be held for those with zero credits as agreed with the Man Utd fans forum. All sales commence at 10am each morning. Tickets are now sold out for Galatasaray. But keep checking the website as people regularly return tickets which can pop up at short notice.

Domestic Away Tickets
The process for getting domestic away tickets to Man Utd games is an entirely different process. To even be eligible to apply for any Manchester United away Premier League, F.A Cup, or Carabao Cup game you must be a silver or above season ticket holder. When you first get a season ticket at Old Trafford you become a red season ticket holder. This remains the same for the first three seasons. At the beginning of season 4 holders who bought all home cup games the previous season will then become silver season ticket holders which then grants you the ability to apply for domestic away tickets.
