Wigan V Man Utd will take place on Monday 8th January 2024 in the 3rd round of the 2023/2024 FA Cup. Kick off is 2015 hours UK time at the DW Stadium, Wigan.
United have been given an allocation of 7,003 tickets for this game, leaving Red Devils fans with the full long East stand of the stadium. This has caused controversy amongst Wigan fans who have been reallocated out of there regular season tickets seats. The clubs board have defended the decision stating it makes economic sense. The East stand usually contains the loudest section of the Latics support with many threatening to boycott the game in protest of being moved.
Wigan Athletic chairman Ben Goodburn responded to criticism. He said: “This is a unique one-off cup game and, we want to ensure we maximise its potential. Our average attendance is down across all stands, including the East Stand, with an average attendance in our home stands of less than 40 per cent so far this season.”
Even though Wigan sit near the bottom of League 1, 55 league places below Manchester United, we cant help but be nervous going into this game. Who knows what Manchester United side will turn up at the DW Stadium.
